Global Impact Transformation (GIT), in collaboration with Inspiring Hearts (USA), will convene the Business and Entrepreneurship Youth Leadership Conference from 24–25 October 2025 at the British Council in Dar es Salaam. The conference seeks to empower young people, including youth with disabilities, with practical entrepreneurship and leadership skills in support of national efforts to address youth unemployment and promote inclusive economic opportunities for young people in Tanzania.

Building Youth Enterprise and Leadership: A Conference to Unlock Skills and Economic Opportunities in Tanzania

Across Africa, youth unemployment remains one of the most urgent development challenges. The African Development Bank estimates that nearly 12 million young Africans enter the labor market each year, while only about 3 million jobs are created annually, leaving a large number of young people unemployed or underemployed. In Tanzania, where over 60 percent of the population is under the age of 35, many youth face barriers such as limited skills, lack of access to finance, and constrained pathways to decent work and self-employment. These realities underscore the need for targeted, skills-focused initiatives that prepare young people to participate meaningfully in the economy.

This two day conference will focus on entrepreneurship, business management, financial literacy, and enterprise development. Through interactive and practical sessions, participants will build critical skills to design, launch, and sustainably manage income generating initiatives, while also strengthening their employability and leadership potential.

The sessions will be facilitated by Lisa Niel, Chief Executive Officer and Founder of Inspiring Hearts, and Doug R. Niel, Secretary of Inspiring Hearts, reflecting the growing impact of international partnerships in advancing youth empowerment through shared learning and capacity building.

The conference will be officiated by the Executive Secretary of the Tanzania National Business Council (TNBC), Dr. Godwill Wanga, demonstrating the importance of multi-stakeholder collaboration in supporting youth economic participation, innovation, and inclusive development in alignment with national and global aspirations, including Agenda 2030 and Agenda 2063.
