GIT and Partners to Co-Organize AYLDC 2026 Advancing the Youth, Peace and Security (YPS) Agenda under UN Resolution 2250

Global Impact Transformation (GIT), in partnership with the Ethiopian Youth Dialogue for Peace Association (EYDPA) and other partners, is convening the African Youth Leadership & Development Conference (AYLDC) 2026 a transformative continental platform designed to accelerate youth-led solutions for peace, unity, climate action, gender equality, decent work, and inclusive governance across Africa.

Placing Youth at the Heart of Peace and Security in Africa

Africa is the world’s youngest continent, and its youth are not just the future they are the present. They are activists, innovators, peace builders, entrepreneurs, and policymakers shaping the world around them. Yet, they remain underrepresented in decision-making spaces. The Youth, Peace and Security (YPS) agenda, anchored in UN Security Council Resolution 2250, recognizes that young people must be at the center of building peaceful, inclusive, and resilient societies.

AYLDC 2026 responds directly to this call. It is more than a conference; it is a continental movement where young leaders will gather to co-create strategies, exchange innovations, and commit to transformative action. It is a platform for youth to claim their seat at the table and drive Africa’s vision for peace, prosperity, and sustainable development.

Youth are the driving force of Africa’s transformation. The Youth, Peace and Security (YPS) agenda, grounded in UN Security Council Resolution 2250 and reinforced by Resolutions 2419 and 2535, calls for the recognition and inclusion of young people in peace building, conflict prevention, and decision making. AYLDC 2026 responds to this urgent call by ensuring that young people are not only consulted but are central actors in shaping policies and actions that determine Africa’s future.

At AYLDC 2026, taking place on 25–29 March 2026 in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, young leaders will step forward as peace builders, innovators, and advocates, advancing the five YPS pillars,  participation, protection, prevention, partnerships, and reintegration across all program areas. This is where dialogue becomes action, and action becomes transformation.

Why This Event Matters

Africa’s future cannot be secured without its youth. With over 60% of the population under 25, young people are the continent’s greatest asset  yet they remain underrepresented in decision-making and underfunded in their initiatives. At the same time, they are disproportionately affected by conflict, unemployment, and climate change. The Youth, Peace and Security (YPS) agenda, under UN Security Council Resolution 2250 and reinforced by Resolutions 2419 and 2535, provides a clear framework for recognizing and investing in youth as leaders of peace, justice, and sustainable development.

The African Youth Leadership & Development Conference (AYLDC) 2026, will respond directly to this global and continental call. More than 300 young leaders from 40+ countries will gather not only to be heard, but to actively design and drive solutions. They will step forward as peace builders, innovators, and advocates, advancing the five pillars of the YPS agenda  participation, protection, prevention, partnerships, and reintegration across all program areas.

This is not just another youth event. AYLDC 2026 will provide policy influence, innovation platforms, and long-term partnerships that translate dialogue into decisions, decisions into action, and action into lasting transformation. By investing in youth leadership now, Africa positions itself to build a peaceful, resilient, and inclusive continent that delivers on the promise of Agenda 2063: The Africa We Want and the Sustainable Development Goals.
