In today’s rapidly evolving digital economy, access to knowledge and skills is no longer optional, it is essential. Global Impact Transformation (GIT), in partnership with Her Initiative, has launched Cohort One of a six-week Digital Business Training Program to equip young people, particularly women, with future-ready competencies. The inaugural session brought together a diverse and ambitious group of participants eager to embrace innovation, entrepreneurship, and inclusive opportunities. With women making up the majority, the program is not only building digital and entrepreneurial skills but also dismantling barriers to equal participation in technology and business.
By Our reporter,
The Digital Business Training Program responds to systemic challenges that often leave young people behind. By offering hands-on training in e-commerce, digital marketing, financial management, and online entrepreneurship, the program transforms digital access into practical pathways for empowerment. This is not just about learning new tools; it is about imagining futures. Participants are gaining skills to generate income, create opportunities, and scale their ideas beyond local markets. The focus on digital financial literacy and entrepreneurship ensures that youth are not only consumers of technology but active innovators and business leaders shaping the future of work.
What makes this initiative stand out is its deliberate focus on young women. Across the continent, women remain disproportionately excluded from digital economies due to cultural barriers, lack of resources, and limited mentorship opportunities. By ensuring women make up the majority of the cohort, the program directly challenges this divide.Women participants are stepping forward not only as learners but also as role models, innovators, and peer mentors. Their presence demonstrates how inclusive approaches can create ripple effects, inspiring more women to embrace digital tools for entrepreneurship, leadership, and financial independence.
The first session of the program was more than an introduction, it was a platform for vision-setting, connection, and inspiration. Participants entered the space eager to explore possibilities, share lived experiences, and commit to a transformative journey. The atmosphere was dynamic, filled with energy, ideas, and early signs of collaboration. Facilitators emphasized the importance of combining technical competence with entrepreneurial mindsets. Linking digital skills directly to real-world opportunities ensured participants could see immediate relevance to their aspirations. By the end of the session, clear personal and entrepreneurial goals were being articulated, and peer support groups had already been initiated to sustain engagement between sessions.
The cohort represents a rich tapestry of diversity spanning backgrounds, education levels, and personal journeys. This diversity is not a challenge but a strength, fostering deeper discussions, stronger peer-to-peer learning, and more innovative solutions.Young women voiced their aspirations and challenges openly, ensuring lived experiences shaped the collective learning journey. The program embodies a core principle inclusive economic growth that leaves no one behind.
Over the next five sessions, participants will advance their technical knowledge, apply digital skills to practical business contexts, and refine their ideas into scalable ventures. By embedding entrepreneurship, digital inclusion, and gender equality into a single program, GIT and Her Initiative are demonstrating that innovation and inclusivity go hand in hand.
The long-term vision is clear: a generation of digital-savvy, socially conscious young leaders who will not only benefit individually but also uplift their communities, create employment, and drive inclusive, sustainable economic growth.
By intentionally centering youth and women in digital business training, GIT and Her Initiative are not just filling skills gaps; they are shaping tomorrow’s inclusive economy. The program demonstrates how access to knowledge, when paired with mentorship, networks, and opportunity, can unlock the potential of young leaders.
This is more than a training, it is a movement. A movement towards a future where young people, especially women, are not just beneficiaries of the digital economy but drivers of transformation, innovation, and inclusive growth.
With collective action, digital transformation will no longer be a distant promise, but a lived reality for young women and men shaping tomorrow across Tanzania and beyond.
