Global Impact Transformation (GIT) will serve as one of the key organizations in the National Leadership Team for the International Youth Day 2025 commemoration. The national event will take place in Dodoma on 12 August 2025, marking the official climax of this year’s celebrations.
The commemoration is convened by the Government of the United Republic of Tanzania through the Prime Minister’s Office, in partnership with United Nations agencies and a coalition of leading national and international NGOs and CSOs committed to youth empowerment and sustainable development. This multi-stakeholder effort reflects a shared commitment to advancing youth empowerment, civic participation, and sustainable development.
The 2025 theme “The Power of Youth Towards Sustainable Development” is a rallying call for governments, civil society, the private sector, and development partners to fully recognize and invest in young people as leaders, innovators, and change agents. It emphasizes the role of youth in driving inclusive growth, climate-smart solutions, and equitable societies, aligning with both the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and the African Union’s Agenda 2063.
International Youth Day (IYD) is observed globally on 12 August each year, following its designation by the United Nations General Assembly in 1999. The day provides a platform to celebrate the contributions of young people to sustainable development, highlight both opportunities and challenges faced by youth across sectors, mobilize action to advance youth led solutions and policies.
Each year’s theme reflects pressing global priorities, encouraging countries to localize solutions and create enabling environments for youth leadership.
GIT’s participation in the International Youth Day 2025 National Commemoration reflects its unwavering commitment to advancing the youth agenda in Tanzania. Through its programs and advocacy efforts, GIT works year round to ensure that young people have the knowledge, skills, and opportunities to lead positive change in their communities and beyond. This enduring commitment underscores GIT’s belief that youth are not just the leaders of tomorrow, but key architects of today’s solutions.
