On April 12, 2025, Global Impact Transformation (GIT) joined a vibrant coalition of youth and community volunteers at Rainbow Beach in Mtwara for a hands-on environmental cleanup. Organized by HUDEFO, the initiative brought together more than 150 participants with a shared goal: to combat marine pollution, raise awareness on waste management, and promote local environmental responsibility.
This effort reflects GIT’s growing commitment to collaborative action, youth led engagement, and community based solutions to environmental challenges affecting Tanzania and the broader region.Spanning approximately 200 meters, the cleanup resulted in the collection of 160 sacks of waste, an estimated 3,880 kilograms of plastic bottles, nylon wrappers, medical syringes, slippers, and other non-biodegradable debris. The effort combined physical action with environmental education, as volunteers participated in waste classification training, gaining practical skills in sorting recyclable and non-recyclable materials.
This initiative reflects GIT’s commitment to sustainable partnerships, grassroots action, and youth-led environmental leadership, working hand in hand with communities to build a cleaner and more resilient future.
