As Tanzania prepares to mark the National Commemoration of International Youth Day 2026 in Dodoma from 11–12 August, Global Impact Transformation (GIT) is proud to be part of this important national platform, joining young people, Government leaders, youth-led organizations, civil society, development partners and other stakeholders from across the country. Under the theme “Mazingira Tofauti, Fursa Sawa kwa Vijana” (Different Environments, Equal Opportunities for Youth), the commemoration provides a timely opportunity to spotlight the ambitions, creativity and potential of Tanzania’s young generation, while strengthening collective commitment to ensuring that opportunities are accessible to young people regardless of their background, location, gender, disability or circumstances. The national commemoration will be graced by Hon. Joel Arthur Nanauka, Minister of State, President’s Office Youth Development, bringing together diverse actors around a shared commitment to advancing Tanzania’s youth development agenda. For GIT, participation in this national gathering reflects its commitment to bringing grassroots youth perspectives into national conversations and connecting young people with wider opportunities, partnerships and platforms that can help turn their potential into meaningful economic and social participation.
Joining Tanzania’s national platform to celebrate youth potential, amplify young voices and strengthen collective action for equal opportunities

Across Tanzania, young people are demonstrating creativity, ambition and an increasing readiness to contribute to the country’s development. Yet their experiences and access to opportunities vary considerably. Young people in schools, informal businesses, rural and underserved communities, young women and young persons with disabilities may face very different pathways to skills, technology, finance, employment and decision-making spaces.
GIT works to help close these gaps by creating practical pathways that enable young people to develop their potential and participate more meaningfully in their communities and the economy.
Through initiatives such as the Vijana Impact Hub, young people are gaining exposure to employability and entrepreneurship, Artificial Intelligence (AI), digital innovation, financial literacy, leadership, mentorship and other future-ready skills. GIT’s school and community-based initiatives further create spaces where young people can develop ideas, strengthen their confidence and participate in addressing issues affecting their communities.
Participation in the national commemoration provides an opportunity to bring these grassroots experiences into a wider national conversation while learning from young people and organizations working in different contexts across Tanzania.
Different Environments, Equal Opportunities
The 2026 theme speaks directly to an important reality: equal opportunity does not necessarily mean giving every young person exactly the same support.
Young people begin their journeys from different circumstances. Some have greater access to technology, quality education, professional networks, finance and markets, while others must overcome significant social, geographic and economic barriers before they can access the same opportunities.
Creating meaningful equality therefore requires understanding these different realities and designing opportunities that respond to them. This is particularly important for young women, persons with disabilities and young people in underserved communities whose talents and ideas can easily remain untapped when programmes and opportunities do not intentionally address barriers to participation.
GIT believes that where a young person comes from should never determine how far their potential can take them.
Celebrating young people is important, but the real measure of commitment to youth development is what happens beyond the celebration. Young people need pathways that allow them to translate knowledge into skills, skills into employment, ideas into enterprises, technology into solutions and participation into leadership.
This requires investment not only in training, but also in mentorship, entrepreneurship ecosystems, access to technology, financial inclusion, markets, professional networks and spaces where young people can test and develop their ideas. GIT is particularly committed to connecting grassroots youth development with emerging opportunities in AI, digital technology, entrepreneurship and innovation, while ensuring that leadership, civic responsibility and community engagement remain integral to preparing young people for the future.
GIT’s participation in the National International Youth Day 2026 Commemoration forms part of a much broader and ongoing commitment to Tanzania’s young generation.
Beyond the two-day gathering, GIT will continue strengthening its youth platforms, expanding partnerships and creating opportunities that enable young people to access practical skills, mentorship, technology, entrepreneurship support and spaces for meaningful participation.
The organization also looks forward to using the connections and lessons emerging from the national commemoration to strengthen existing initiatives and explore opportunities to reach more young people in different communities.
