On Saturday, 1st August 2026, Global Impact Transformation (GIT) will once again bring together volunteers, government institutions, development partners, the private sector, civil society organizations, and local communities for Waves of Change – Beach Clean-Up Drive Series 6 at Mbali Beach Dar Es Salaam. But this is about far more than cleaning a beach. Waves of Change is GIT's flagship civic engagement and environmental sustainability movement, transforming ordinary citizens into champions of environmental protection and community action. Through this ongoing initiative, we are inspiring people to move beyond awareness and become part of the solution to one of the most pressing challenges of our time plastic pollution and environmental degradation. Every edition of Waves of Change demonstrates the power of collective action. By bringing diverse stakeholders together, we are fostering a culture of volunteerism, active citizenship, environmental stewardship, and shared responsibility while building cleaner, healthier, and more resilient communities for present and future generations.

Pollution is one of the greatest environmental challenges of our time and it demands collective action.
Plastic waste and poor waste management continue to threaten Tanzania's beaches, oceans, marine biodiversity, public health, tourism, and the livelihoods of coastal communities. Every piece of litter that reaches our rivers and oceans contributes to a growing environmental crisis that no single institution can solve alone. The solution lies in empowered citizens, strong partnerships, and communities that are willing to take responsibility for the environment we all share.
This is why Global Impact Transformation (GIT) continues to champion Waves of Change, our flagship Civic Engagement and Environmental Sustainability Initiative that transforms environmental concern into meaningful community action.
Through Waves of Change, GIT brings together women, youth, persons with disabilities, government institutions, civil society organizations, development partners, the private sector, and local communities to work side by side in protecting our environment while strengthening civic participation. Every clean-up demonstrates that every citizen has both the opportunity and the responsibility to contribute to cleaner beaches, healthier ecosystems, and stronger, more resilient communities.
Since its inception, Waves of Change has evolved into a growing movement that extends far beyond collecting waste. It is creating a culture of environmental stewardship, responsible waste management, volunteerism, climate action, and active citizenship. Most importantly, it is inspiring people to recognize that lasting environmental change begins with individual responsibility and collective action.
Waves of Change Series 6 continues this journey by bringing together diverse stakeholders who share one common purpose—to transform concern into action, and action into lasting impact. Through community mobilization, environmental education, volunteerism, and ecosystem restoration, we are fostering a culture where protecting our environment becomes a daily civic responsibility rather than an occasional event.
At Global Impact Transformation, we believe that environmental sustainability cannot be achieved without active citizen participation. That is why Civic Engagement and Environmental Sustainability remain central pillars of our mission. By empowering communities to participate in solving environmental challenges, we are helping build a future where cleaner environments, responsible citizenship, and sustainable development go hand in hand.
On 1st August 2026, we invite individuals, families, schools, businesses, government institutions, civil society organizations, and development partners to stand with us during Waves of Change – Beach Clean-Up Drive Series 6, together, we can reduce pollution, restore our beaches, protect marine ecosystems, strengthen civic engagement, and inspire a generation of environmental champions committed to safeguarding our planet.
Together, we are not simply cleaning beaches, we are building a movement of active citizens, protecting our natural heritage, and creating healthier, more sustainable communities for generations to come.
