Global Impact Transformation (GIT), in partnership with Yana Corp, rolled out the VIJANA IMPACT HUB at Ilboru Secondary School in Arusha, engaging 104 students from Form I to Form VI. The session marked a key step in expanding structured digital literacy, Artificial Intelligence (AI), and entrepreneurship pathways to secondary school youth. The initiative forms part of GIT’s broader strategy to address youth unemployment by equipping young people with future-ready skills that strengthen innovation, economic empowerment, and inclusive participation in Tanzania’s digital transformation agenda

Youth unemployment and underemployment remain pressing socio-economic challenges across Tanzania and the wider region. At the same time, rapid technological transformation is reshaping labour markets and demanding new competencies that traditional education pathways alone may not fully provide. The VIJANA IMPACT HUB responds directly to this gap by equipping young people with practical digital skills, exposure to Artificial Intelligence tools, innovation methodologies, and entrepreneurial thinking. By integrating technology with problem-solving and enterprise development, the initiative strengthens young people’s capacity to navigate and shape an evolving digital economy.
During the Arusha workshop, students engaged in interactive dialogue on the responsible and ethical use of Artificial Intelligence, the strategic application of digital platforms for research and innovation, and practical approaches to converting digital competencies into income-generating opportunities. Discussions also reinforced the importance of financial awareness and cultivating entrepreneurial mindsets from an early stage. The session underscored a central message: technology is not merely a learning aid, it is a strategic pathway toward economic resilience, job creation, and youth-led solutions capable of contributing to sustainable national development.“Equipping young people with digital and AI competencies is critical for economic transformation. We are committed to building a generation of innovators and job creators who can actively shape Tanzania’s future,” said Ms. Sylvia Mohamed Mkomwa, Country Lead of Global Impact Transformation (GIT).
Beyond digital exposure, the VIJANA IMPACT HUB integrates entrepreneurship and financial empowerment into its learning model. The initiative promotes innovation-driven thinking and supports youth in identifying practical solutions to community and market challenges.Through structured mentorship, innovation challenges, and enterprise-oriented learning pathways, the Hub encourages young people to view themselves not only as job seekers, but as potential job creators capable of building sustainable ventures.
“Access to technology must translate into opportunity. Through collaborative implementation, we are enabling students to transform digital knowledge into innovation, enterprise development, and measurable economic impact,” noted Ms. Nuru Lema, Chief Executive Officer of Yana Corp.
The strong engagement demonstrated by students reflects growing demand for structured digital and entrepreneurship platforms within secondary education environments.
The Arusha rollout represents the beginning of a structured national expansion phase. Through phased implementation across schools and community platforms, Global Impact Transformation aims to reach 4,000 in-school and out-of-school youth by December 2026.The scale-up will focus on expanding access to future-ready skills, fostering youth-led innovation ecosystems, and strengthening partnerships that enable sustainable pathways toward employment and entrepreneurship. This next phase prioritizes inclusive access, strategic collaboration, and long-term institutional integration to ensure durable and measurable impact. The expansion prioritizes inclusive access, particularly for young women and marginalized youth, ensuring equitable participation in Tanzania’s digital and economic transformation.
Global Impact Transformation welcomes collaboration with schools, development partners, private sector actors, and youth-focused institutions committed to advancing digital innovation and youth economic empowerment. Together, we can expand access to future-ready skills and accelerate inclusive opportunities for young people across Tanzania.
