As Tanzania advances toward a digital economy, the question is no longer whether young people will be part of the future of work, but whether they will be equipped to lead it. In this context, Global Impact Transformation (GIT) and YANA Corp Ltd have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to scale youth access to Artificial Intelligence (AI), coding, and digital innovation skills unlocking new pathways for decent work, entrepreneurship, and technology-driven solutions led by youth

Global Impact Transformation (GIT) and YANA Corp Ltd have formally signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to accelerate youth digital empowerment, with a strong focus on Artificial Intelligence (AI), coding, and technology-driven innovation. This strategic partnership aims to reach thousands of young women and men across Dar es Salaam, Tanga, Kigoma, Mtwara, Kilimanjaro and Zanzibar in 2026, enhancing their capacity for meaningful participation in the digital economy and inclusive development.
The MoU, signed in Dar es Salaam sets the foundation for jointly implemented digital skills and innovation initiatives under the Vijana Impact Hub platform. The agreement reflects a shared commitment to bridging persistent digital skill gaps, promoting equitable access to technology, and nurturing community-centered innovation that aligns with national development priorities.
In an era of rapid technological transformation, digital skills have become essential for economic inclusion, decent work, and sustainable development. According to the World Economic Forum’s Future of Jobs Report, by 2025, 85 million jobs may be displaced by shifts in the division of labour between humans and machines, while 97 million new roles may emerge that are adapted to the new division of labour between humans, machines, and algorithms.
In Africa, and specifically Tanzania, young people are demographically positioned to be both beneficiaries and drivers of digital transformation. However, access to quality digital education, applied technology training, and innovation pathways remains uneven, especially outside major urban centers. A UNESCO analysis highlights that digital literacy and computational skills remain significantly lower among youth in rural and underserved regions, limiting their ability to participate in high-growth sectors such as AI, software development, and tech entrepreneurship.
Under the MoU, GIT and YANA Corp will co-design and deliver integrated learning pathways tailored for youth aged 15–35 years, both in school and out of school. Programming will prioritize Applied AI Foundations, Coding and Software Development, Digital Literacy, Online Safety, and Technology-Enabled Innovation. The training blends theoretical knowledge with practical application to ensure that participants can leverage digital skills for employment, enterprise, and community impact.
As part of the launch, Ms. Sylvia Mohamed Mkomwa, Country Lead at Global Impact Transformation, underscored the transformative potential of the collaboration:
“This partnership represents a pivotal step in unlocking digital opportunities for young people across Tanzania. By equipping youth with AI and technology skills, we are enabling them not only to adapt to the future of work, but to actively shape it. Our goal is to ensure that technology becomes a powerful tool for empowerment, inclusion, and local innovation.”
The initiative will be scaled across strategic regions with diverse socioeconomic and geographic contexts, including Dar es Salaam, Tanga, Kigoma, Mtwara, Kilimanjaro, and Zanzibar, ensuring equitable access to digital learning opportunities for young women and men, including persons with disabilities and youth from rural and underserved communities, across urban, coastal, and inland contexts, particularly those facing structural barriers to participation in the digital economy. Through community labs, mobile digital hubs, mentorship sessions, and innovation challenges, young people will engage in hands-on experiences that build confidence and capability.
The partnership leverages technology as an enabler for scalable impact, linking youth to skills development, innovation ecosystems, and pathways to decent work within the digital economy
YANA Corp brings specialized expertise in scalable digital solutions for education and social impact. Its platforms support digital literacy, learning management, and applied technology engagement across communities. Ms. Nuru Lema, CEO of YANA Corp, highlighted the critical role of tech in inclusive youth empowerment:
“We believe that technology must be equitable, accessible, and applied in ways that deliver real socioeconomic value. Our collaboration with GIT amplifies our shared vision for youth empowerment transforming digital learners into innovators, problem solvers, and change agents who can contribute to Tanzania’s digital economy.”
This partnership will utilize technology not only for skills delivery but also for monitoring, evaluation, storytelling, and impact documentation. Simple digital tools such as mobile data collection, geo-tagged activity tracking, cloud-based dashboards, and curated digital content libraries will support transparent and evidence-based programming, ensuring that results are measurable and visible to partners and communities alike.
By strengthening competencies in AI, coding, and digital innovation, the GIT–YANA Corp partnership positions young people as both beneficiaries and co-creators of solutions. Engagement platforms such as innovation challenges will elevate youth-led ideas that demonstrate promise in addressing real-world challenges, particularly those related to economic inclusion, environmental stewardship, and community well-being.
This aligns with global development commitments, including the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDG 4 on quality education and SDG 8 on decent work and economic growth), which emphasize inclusive access to education and skills for youth worldwide.
The MoU between Global Impact Transformation and YANA Corp ushers in a new chapter of youth-focused digital engagement in Tanzania. As implementation unfolds throughout 2026, the partnership will continue to prioritize inclusive access, measurable impact, and technology-enabled learning pathways.
By leveraging innovation and collaboration, GIT aims to ensure that every young person regardless of their location or socioeconomic status has the opportunity to benefit from digital transformation, contribute to local and national development, and thrive in an increasingly technology-driven world.
