Global Impact Transformation (GIT) Tanzania, in strategic partnership with Inspiring Hearts of California (USA), successfully convened the Business and Entrepreneurship Leadership Conference on 24–25 October 2025 at the British Council, Manchester Hall in Dar es Salaam. The high-level convening served as a transformative platform for inclusive and sustainable economic empowerment, equipping women, youth, and persons with disabilities (PWDs) with practical skills, leadership confidence, and financial literacy to accelerate entrepreneurship and access financing opportunities. Anchored in Tanzania’s Vision 2025, the Women and Youth Empowerment Framework, and the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, the Conference contributed directly to SDG 5 (Gender Equality), SDG 8 (Decent Work and Economic Growth), and SDG 10 (Reduced Inequalities)—demonstrating local leadership toward global development commitments.

Youth Empowerment in Action Building Inclusive Economies, Transforming Lives

At the heart of this initiative lies the unwavering belief that young people are not just beneficiaries of development, they are the architects of transformation. Through hands-on training, mentorship, and financial literacy sessions, youth participants gained the confidence, tools, and networks needed to design and sustain their own enterprises.

The two-day Conference brought together over 210 participants, including emerging entrepreneurs, representatives of women-led and disability-inclusive enterprises, youth innovators, local government officers, and private-sector leaders.

Participation exceeded registration targets by 23 percent, illustrating the strong and growing demand for accessible entrepreneurship development, financial literacy, and business mentorship among Tanzanian youth.The diversity of participants created an environment for inter-sectoral dialogue, collaboration, and shared learning, linking rural and urban entrepreneurs, policy actors, and mentors under one inclusive platform.

The Conference was officially opened by Hon. Shamim Khan, Board Chair of Global Impact Transformation and Chairperson of the Tanzania Women Interfaith Network. She previously served as Deputy Minister for Trade and Industry and Deputy Minister for Community Development, Gender, and Children. Whose longstanding advocacy continues to advance women’s economic inclusion and entrepreneurship development in Tanzania.

In her keynote address, she underscored GIT’s mission to champion inclusive growth, equality of opportunity, and empowerment at the grassroots, noting: “When women and youth are empowered to lead and innovate, they not only change their own lives — they transform communities and economies. The event was graced by Dr. Godwin Wanga, Executive Secretary of the Tanzania National Business Council (TNBC), as Guest of Honor. Representing national government priorities, Dr. Wanga reaffirmed commitment to creating an enabling environment for enterprise development and inclusive financing. He noted that more than 74 empowerment funds are available nationwide to support women, youth, and PWDs, urging participants to take proactive steps in leveraging these opportunities to enhance livelihoods and drive local economic transformation.This government engagement reflects growing recognition of GIT’s catalytic role in promoting inclusive and sustainable development through partnerships, innovation, and capacity-building.

The training was facilitated by Ms. Lisa Niel, Founder and CEO of Inspiring Hearts, and Mr. Doug Niel, business mentor and co-facilitator. Their sessions blended inspirational storytelling with practical, action-oriented tools to empower participants to translate ideas into viable business models.

The Conference served as a launchpad for youth-led innovation and inclusive growth, providing practical pathways for young entrepreneurs to access government funding, engage in responsible business planning, and establish linkages with markets and local authorities. By connecting knowledge to opportunity, the initiative is helping youth transform ideas into viable businesses that create jobs, generate income, and contribute to community resilience.

Participants demonstrated exceptional creativity and determination, engaging actively in leadership and problem-solving exercises that strengthened their confidence and entrepreneurial mindset. The learning experience not only equipped them with technical know-how but also fostered values of integrity, collaboration, and social responsibility core principles of sustainable development and ethical entrepreneurship.

Through this empowerment process, GIT and Inspiring Hearts are cultivating a new generation of youth who are economically independent, socially conscious, and ready to drive Tanzania’s inclusive transformation. These emerging leaders are bridging divides, breaking barriers, and demonstrating that when young people are empowered with the right tools and opportunities, they become powerful agents of change, building inclusive economies and transforming lives from the ground up.

The Way Forward: Sustaining Momentum and Scaling Impact

Building on the success of this flagship engagement, GIT aims to transform the Conference into a long-term Youth Entrepreneurship and Financial Empowerment Programme anchored on:
1.    Structured Mentorship and Coaching: continuous capacity-building and mentorship networks for graduates.
2.    Evidence-Driven Monitoring: periodic data collection on business growth, financial inclusion, and social impact.
3.    Regional Replication: scaling the model to additional regions in Tanzania with a focus on rural youth and women entrepreneurs.
4.    Advocacy and Policy Engagement: promoting reforms for transparent and inclusive financing mechanisms.
5.    Partnership Strengthening: deepening collaboration between civil society, private sector, and government to accelerate youth economic empowerment.

The Business and Entrepreneurship Leadership Conference has become a beacon of hope, innovation, and opportunity for women and youth across Tanzania. It reaffirmed that young people are not merely beneficiaries of development, they are its architects and driving force.
