Young people continue playing a critical role in shaping Tanzania’s social, economic, and development transformation. However, despite representing the majority of the country’s population, many young people continue facing challenges related to unemployment, limited access to opportunities, exclusion from decision-making spaces, inadequate financing, and limited participation in national development processes. Strengthening youth leadership, inclusion, innovation, peace building, entrepreneurship, and meaningful participation remains essential in advancing sustainable development and strengthening Tanzania’s future development agenda. It is within this context that Global Impact Transformation (GIT) is proud to be among the key co-organizers and strategic partners supporting the 2026 Tanzania Youth Development Forum (TYDF 2026), a national platform that continues strengthening youth participation, dialogue, leadership, innovation, and policy engagement across Tanzania.
Celebrating Youth leadership, innovation, and contribution to Tanzania’s Sustainable Development

The Tanzania Youth Development Forum (TYDF 2026) will be held in Dodoma from 21–23 May 2026 under the theme:
“5 Years of TYDF: Reflecting on and Celebrating the Contribution of Youth to Tanzania’s Sustainable Development.”
The Forum is organized by DOYODO Tanzania in collaboration with the Prime Minister’s Office responsible for Labour, Youth, Employment and Persons with Disabilities, together with youth-led and youth-serving organizations, development partners, civil society organizations, and institutional stakeholders.
TYDF 2026 is expected to bring together over 600 youth directly from across Tanzania, while expected to reach over 60,000 young people through digital engagement, media outreach, and partner communication platforms. The platform will convene youth leaders, government institutions, development partners, civil society organizations, academia, private sector actors, and community stakeholders to engage in strategic dialogue and collaborative action focused on youth development and national transformation.
GIT’s Role in Strengthening Youth Participation and Innovation
As part of its ongoing commitment to youth empowerment, innovation, digital inclusion, peacebuilding, and leadership development, Global Impact Transformation (GIT) continues supporting platforms that amplify youth voices and strengthen meaningful youth participation in national development processes.
Through its signature programs and initiatives, including the Vijana Impact Hub, E-STEM Program, GIT School Clubs, out-of-school youth engagement platforms, safeguarding initiatives, peacebuilding engagement, and youth innovation ecosystems, GIT continues investing in practical and inclusive pathways that empower young people, particularly young women, with leadership, entrepreneurship, digital, technology, and innovation skills necessary to thrive, lead, and contribute meaningfully to sustainable development and community transformation
The organization’s participation in TYDF 2026 reflects its broader commitment to strengthening grassroots youth engagement, inclusive development, intergenerational dialogue, and youth-centered policy and advocacy spaces.
The Forum will be officially opened by Hon Dr. Dorothy Gwajima, Minister of Community Development, Gender, Women and Special Groups the engagement will also feature high-level thematic discussions bringing together policymakers, development partners, civil society organizations, and youth leaders on issues affecting young people across Tanzania.
As part of the Youth Peace and Security engagement, GIT Tanzania Country Lead, Ms. Sylvia Mohamed Mkomwa, will be among the panelist speakers during the Peace and Security session, which will be opened by Hon Patrobas Katambi, Minister of Home Affairs, the Forum will further be officially closed by Hon. Joel Arthur Nanauka, Minister of State, Prime Minister’s Office responsible for Labour, Youth, Employment and Persons with Disabilities
TYDF 2026 continues demonstrating the importance of strategic partnerships and collective action in advancing youth empowerment and sustainable development. The Forum brings together a wide range of partners and collaborators including Global Impact Transformation (GIT), UNFPA Tanzania, CARE Tanzania, Plan International, Amref Tanzania, Save the Children Tanzania, CAMFED, Tanzania Leadership Foundation, The National Council of Non-Governmental Organizations (NACONGO), Amref, African Leadership Initiative, BRAC, Tai and several other youth-serving and development organizations.
Through collaboration, dialogue, innovation, and collective engagement, the Forum continues strengthening opportunities for young people to contribute meaningfully toward governance, peacebuilding, entrepreneurship, innovation, social transformation, and national development.
Looking Ahead
As preparations continue, TYDF 2026 is expected to serve as an important platform for strengthening youth leadership, policy dialogue, innovation, networking, collaboration, and collective action among young people and stakeholders across Tanzania.
