Across Tanzania, many young people continue facing limited access to employment opportunities, financing, mentorship, and innovation support systems despite growing creativity, entrepreneurial potential, and digital talent among youth. Strengthening practical innovation ecosystems and youth-centered entrepreneurship platforms remains critical in supporting young people to transition from ideas to sustainable enterprises and meaningful economic participation within the growing digital economy. It is within this context that Global Impact Transformation (GIT), in partnership with the Institute of Social Work (ISW), co-organized the Innovation Day held in Dar es Salaam under the framework of the existing Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the two institutions and through the implementation of the Vijana Impact Hub initiative. The event brought together 478 participants, including 249 female and 229 male students from Certificate, Diploma, Undergraduate, and Postgraduate levels, creating an important platform for youth-led innovation, entrepreneurship, digital inclusion, and practical problem-solving.

The Innovation Day showcased innovative, technology-driven, and entrepreneurship-focused ideas developed by students to address social and economic challenges affecting communities. The event highlighted the growing role of higher learning institutions, innovation hubs, and strategic partnerships in nurturing youth creativity, leadership, and innovation potential. As an official strategic partner of the Institute of Social Work (ISW) in youth innovation, entrepreneurship, and technology engagement, Global Impact Transformation continues strengthening collaboration aimed at expanding practical opportunities for young people through mentorship, innovation support, digital skills development, and entrepreneurship pathways. Through the Vijana Impact Hub initiative, GIT continues promoting youth-centered innovation ecosystems that support practical learning, digital transformation, leadership development, and entrepreneurship readiness among young people.

As part of the engagement, GIT provided technical guidance and mentorship to participating student innovators, supporting idea refinement, feasibility assessment, sustainability planning, and alignment of innovations with market realities and community needs. The engagement also strengthened youth exposure to entrepreneurship development, innovation management, digital skills, and practical business thinking, reinforcing the importance of innovation and technology as drivers of inclusive economic participation and future workforce readiness. The event further demonstrated the increasing interest among young people in entrepreneurship, digital innovation, and self-employment pathways as alternatives to limited formal employment opportunities.

As part of the ongoing collaboration, GIT also facilitated linkages between youth innovators and entrepreneurship support opportunities, including information-sharing and guidance on financing pathways such as the Imbeju Program under CRDB Bank. These engagements continue contributing toward strengthening youth awareness on innovation financing, entrepreneurship incubation, mentorship opportunities, and practical pathways for transforming innovative ideas into sustainable enterprises and scalable community solutions. The event highlighted the importance of strengthening innovation-to-market pathways by connecting young innovators with financial institutions, private sector actors, mentors, and development stakeholders capable of supporting long-term growth and sustainability of youth-led solutions.

The event further reinforced the important role of collaborative engagement between academic institutions, civil society organizations, private sector actors, financial institutions, and development partners in strengthening inclusive innovation ecosystems and expanding opportunities for young people.

Global Impact Transformation remains committed to strengthening youth innovation, entrepreneurship, digital inclusion, and practical skills development through strategic partnerships and community-driven approaches. Through continued collaboration with the Institute of Social Work (ISW) and other stakeholders, GIT aims to strengthen post-training mentorship, innovation incubation, entrepreneurship support systems, and financing pathways that enable young innovators to scale their ideas and increase their contribution toward inclusive economic development and social transformation. The organization also continues exploring opportunities to expand the Vijana Impact Hub initiative to reach more young people across underserved communities and educational institutions.
